| History of William Trinkler Promotions |
SOON AFTER MIGRATING to Australia from Switzerland in 1988, a need was felt for some more modern music from French speaking countries. I started B-side a Swiss/French program with current affairs and lots of music. With the support of Radio France International and Radio Swiss International the program presents a wide variety of topics and music from all French speaking countries. You can hear this program if you are in Sydney every Tuesday nights from 9 to 10 PM on 2RRR-88.5FM. I was board director of the station from 1997 to 1999. This program is now still running thanks to my friend Marie Thérèse Barbé.In 1987 Mr. Alain Monteil from the Cultural Service of the French Embassy in Canberra initiated the creation of the AAPREFA (French Speaking Radio Announcers Network of Australia) in order to tie together all the French speaking radio programs around Australia. After being the Executive Secretary from 1990 to 1992, I've became the President of this Association which has grown from 15 programs in 1988 to 28 in 1999.
When B-side started, I could see that some records from French speaking countries were released every year in Australia by most of the major records companies, but with very little publicity and no air-play from commercial radios. That was the birth of Juke-Box, the only column in French about French music released in Australia, in the only French newspaper published and printed in Australia, Le Courrier Australien (7000 copies in all States).
The missing link between releases of French music in Australia, the public radios and some articles in local papers was to give the opportunity to these artists to promote and to play live their music in Australia; this is why the concept of William Trinkler Promotions was established in late 1995.
If French music was the starting point of this venture, it will not be a limiting factor and William Trinkler Promotions will support artists willing to promote their music in Australia regardless of languages, origin and..... fame!!
As nothing in life is set in concrete and unfortunately just at the beginning of this new WTP adventure another adventure came knocking at the door. For professional reasons, I had to move to the Philippines in March 1999. But then fortunately the concept of WTP did not die before birth, just increased in ambition. Now the core idea will be to have a global network of people committed to display and circulate artists around the world. From visual art, photography, paintings to music...you just name it and we will do our best to put it on the world map.
The discovery of the Philippines was an awakening for me. The incredible pool of talents in this country is amazing. So as my expatriate contract ended I decide to stay here and to focus 100% on my passion for music. William Trinkler Promotions Philippines has been incorporated in September 2001 and is now running full steam......
We are proud to work with some of the greatest band and artists in the Philippines such as Freddie Aguilar, KO Jones, HiWay69, The Boss, Snafu! and many more.
